Marines Good Conduct Medal

Marines Good Conduct Medal

The Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal is awarded for qualifying service to the United States of America from July 20, 1896 to the present day. The medal is awarded on a selective basis to enlisted members of the Regular Marine Corps or the Marine Corps Reserve. It recognizes good behavior and faithful service to the United States while in active duty of the Marine Corps during a specific time period. It also recognizes three year periods of continuous active enlisted service.

The Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal was created by the Secretary of the Navy in 1896 to be awarded to enlisted Marines for obedience, sobriety, military proficiency, neatness, and intelligence during the three year active period that the medal is being awarded for.
